Zest Air now flies Mla.-San Fernando
Zest Airways, Inc. (Zest Air) is set to fly the Manila-San Fernando, La Union route starting August 6, 2010, according to the Bases Conversation and Development Authority (BCDA) President General Narciso Abaya (Ret.)
Abaya said the entry of Zest Air to serve the Province of La Union is expected to sustain investors’ confidence in the entire region and enhance the attractiveness of Poro Point Freeport Zone as an investment site in particular.
For his part, Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) President and CEO Atty. Felix S. Racadio said the entry of Zest Air is an indication of the viability of the City of San Fernando and the Province of La Union as a tourist haven.
"With Zest Air, Poro Point can again be accessed not only by land and sea but also by air via the San Fernando Airport, making the Freeport more attractive to investors and tourist alike," Racadio added.
This is good news for our many foreign guests who are here to see and enjoy new places in the country," he quipped.
The San Fernando Airport is part of the Poro Point Freeport Zone (PPFZ) being managed by the Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC), a subsidiary of the BCDA.
For its inaugural flight on August 6, Zest Airways flight No. 72-170 will leave the Manila Domestic Airport at 1:30 p.m. and will arrive at the San Fernando Airport at 2:50 p.m., a total of 80 minutes flying time, officially signaling the resumption of the domestic flight operations after Seair ceased flying the Manila-San Fernando route on July 1, 2010.
PPMC Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Atty. Anthony C. Manguiat, noted that the San Fernando Airport complements the international seaport, making Poro Point a viable and an ideal site for commerce and tourism.
"The challenge now is for the local government units (LGUs) of La Union and the private sector to work together to attract more investments and tourists that will translate to more jobs and income for the people of La Union," Manguiat explained.
Regular flights from Manila to San Fernando and back will be be serviced by Zest Air every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday departing Manila at 1:30 p.m. arriving San Fernando, La Union at 2:50 p.m., departing San Fernando at 3:20 p.m., and arriving Manila at 4:40 p.m. Zest Air will be utilizing the new Modern Ark (MA60) aircraft which could seat 56 passengers, advised PPMC Vice President for Airport Operations Josefa Catherine T. Bada.
An introductory seat sale for as low as P1,188.00 inclusive of taxes and insurance charges is offered from July 17 to August 30, 2010, for travel dates of August 6 to September 30, 2010. Baguio passengers may avail themselves of the free shuttle services to/from Baguio at the Drop-Off and Pick-Up Point in the Caltex Station, Burnham Park.
